The mascil platform for teachers is available under: http://teacher-communication.mascil-project.eu

It has been conceived as a meeting place for teachers who share a common interest on developing and enriching their practices by adopting inquiry-based learning approaches and/or exploring connections to the world of work. Mascil platform aims at connecting teachers, both internationally and nationally.

Our platform serves three main purposes:

1.    To create a space for teachers to communicate about inquiry-based learning and connections to the world of work. This is the ‘International Teacher Communication’ part.

2.    To spread mascil Problems of the months.

3.   To host the mascil ePD toolkit, to support e-learning communities in professional development courses. This is the ‘ Teacher Professional development’ part.

Besides, the platform is linked with the mascil main website, the mascil classroom materials database, mascil twitter and mascil newsletter.

Mascil platform in detail

This part of the platform aims at offering a place for teachers to exchange experiences and discuss about how they are using IBL, and connections to the world of work, within their classrooms.

If you are already involved in a mascil professional development community, and you have a username and a password, use them to login to the platform. Then, besides reading messages within the forum, you can also add your own posts, and reply to other colleagues’ entries. Otherwise, you can read what has been posted, but for security reasons you will not be able to interact. You can send us an access request  (to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) if you want to login and communicate with other teachers (please, explain briefly who you are and what are your interests).

Mascil’s problems of the month are also published within our platform for teachers. These problems are linked to the ‘International Teacher Communication’ section. Thus, teachers have the opportunity to communicate with other teachers about these problems, and/or about how they have used them within their classrooms.

Our platform also hosts our toolkit for the professional development of teachers in electronic learning (e-learning) or blended learning (b-learning) settings: the mascil ePD toolkit. If you want more information about it, please visit the section ‘professional development’. Only group facilitators or trainers, and teachers involved in professional development groups, can access to this part of the platform for teachers. However, you can have a look inside our professional development materials by clicking in the picture below.

If you are a teacher in a professional development group, you will get a username and a password that gives you a personalised access to the platform. That means that once you login to the platform you will be directly taken to the part where your course is going to take place. Materials in this part will already be in your own language. There you will find useful information about how to proceed, like a welcome message, information about the group facilitator(s), your first steps within the e-learning course, and a map of the route you will follow, if this has been decided in advance (see the picture below).

If you are a group facilitator or trainer within a mascil professional development group, you will get a username and a password as well. Use these data to login to the platform and create your own course by adding information, deciding which parts of the toolkit will be explored, and in which order, editing the materials, etc. In every section of the toolkit, special instructions (Facilitator’s guide) for you have been included.

If you are a teacher educator interested in organising a professional development course based on the mascil ePD toolkit, please contact the mascil team within your country.
